Interest-Free Battery Loan Scheme
In a groundbreaking move towards a sustainable and eco-friendly future, the Victorian State Government has announced a revolutionary interest-free battery loan scheme as part of its $1.3 billion Solar Homes Program.
This initiative, unveiled by Minister for Energy and Resources, Lily D’Ambrosio, on July 27, 2023, aims to encourage residents to embrace renewable energy and make a significant dent in their energy bills.
Households can access up to $8,800 (interest-free) to install batteries & solar panels. The repayment period spans four years, and in some instances, the loan could even reduce the installation costs to zero.
This forward-thinking approach not only aligns with the state’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045 but also positions Victoria as a leader in renewable energy adoption.
Some criteria for the scheme includes:
- you are the owner-occupier of an existing property where the system is to be installed
- the combined household taxable income of all owners is less than $210,000 per year
- the property is valued at under $3 million
